We are sight casting to red fish singles in the flooded marshes and schools of fish in the flats catching and releasing all fish. The fish range from trout, flounder and red fish.
All are tugging the eight weight fly rods and testing the drags of the fly reels. The sea trout are eating small flies. Large red fish are caught in throughout tide phases on many fly patterns. Small shrimp fly patterns are our favorite!
We are returning to Everglades City Florida in March. The snook and red fish pictured below were caught/released in November. The weather was great with cool temperatures and low winds. We were successful with the Hells Bay skiff and saw very few anglers daring the three day trip
Many snook, redfish and some tarpon were "snouting" our flies in the remote backcounty of the Everglades. We had to see the bite in order to set the hook before the fish spit out the fly. Fun!!!
