We are sight casting to red fish in the flooded Spartina marshes and in the draining flats catching and releasing all fish. The fish range from trout, flounder, jacks, ladyfish and red fish. All are tugging the eight weight fly rods and testing the drags of the fly reels. The sea trout are eating large flies in the blue crab pattern. This has occurred more than once while we are fishing for tarpon in the shallow water. Large red fish are caught in throughout tide phases on many fly patterns. Shrimp flies are our favorite!
We have just returned from Everglades City Florida. The weather was not great with cooler temperatures and high winds. We were successful with the Hells Bay skiff and few anglers daring the shallow and weather conditions. Many snook, some redfish and tarpon were snouting our flies in the remote backcounty of the Everglades.
